James grew up on the south coast of NSW and completed a Bachelor of Medicine with Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Adelaide in 2014.
He has worked in a diverse range of health care settings including general surgery, general medicine, emergency medicine, prison health, radiation oncology, neurology, mental health and clinical trials. He has collaborated with the Australian Institute of Machine learning, developing and publishing research on the use of artificial intelligence for breast cancer diagnosis. He began training to be an Occupational Physician in 2023 and enjoys a holistic approach to work-injury management and prevention via working collaboratively with clients and focussing on communication to achieve better outcomes.
His hobbies include wood-work, surfing and skating with his 2 boys.
